John (Ivan) V Alekseevich (1666–1696) – son of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Tishay and Queen Maria Ilyinichna, nee Miloslavskaya. From early childhood it was painful and "demented". After the death of the older brother, Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, along with his younger brother Peter I-the king-ruler at the regent Tsarevna Sofya Alekseevna. After the fall of the regentha, Peter I formally maintained dual power, although Ivan himself did not take any participation in state affairs, limiting himself to the performance of ceremonial duties. January 19, 1684 he married Praskovia Fedorovna Saltykova (1664–1723); had five daughters from her, one of whom – Anna Ioannovna became the empress. Reigned from June 25, 1682 to January 29, 1696.
