The parade on the occasion of the suppression of the Polish uprising is 1830-1831. The rebellious Warsaw was taken by Russian troops on September 8, 1831. The suppression of the uprising participated and. F. Paskevich-Erivansky, a. AT. Suvorov, d. AT. Davydov and many other famous military leaders. Numerous drawings and sketches for the picture are in the timing, GTG, Navy and in other meetings.
The picture retained its own frame with a folding bar in the lower part, in which a reserve is arranged, placing the author’s penetrating with a pen with the indicated numbers and a list of names of 223 characters participating in the event.
Work on the picture continued from 1833 to 1837. In 1840, acquired from the author Nikolai I for a gift to the heir.
The panorama of Tsaritsyn Luga is depicted. On the left are the trees of the Summer Garden, then – the Mikhailovsky castle, the Mikhailovsky Garden, the Pavilion of the Mikhailovsky Garden (1820s; architect K. Rossi), Mikhailovsky Palace (1819-1825; architect to. Rossi), on the right-the barracks of the Life Guards of the Pavlovsky Regiment (in 1817-1819 architect in. P. Stasov united the facade of the construction of the first half of the 18th century). Along the line of the Pavlovsk barracks are regiments of the Guards Infantry-Pavlovsky, Preobrazhensky, Semenovsky, Izmailovsky, as well as the Life Guards Sapernaya regiment. In the center of the meadow is a detailed camping church where a solemn prayer was held. Regiments of the Guards Cavalry were built along the Mikhailovsky Palace. Artillery is located along the summer garden.
In the center of the picture there were two squadrons of light cavalry. The first two lines of the central squadron-Ulans, with vibrants of different colors fluttering in the wind, St. Petersburg, Courland, Smolensky, Kharkov, Lithuanian, Volynsky, as well as the Life Guards of his Imperial Highness Mikhail Pavlovich regiments. Representatives of the hussar regiments – Mariupolsky, Izumsky, Pavlograd, Akhtyr, Alexandria and others lined up behind them. Crossing the meadow from the place of prayer to the carriage of the Empress, Nicholas I with retinue moves. Among the accompanying people are the heir to the throne of Tsesarevich Alexander Nikolaevich (future emperor Alexander II). In the carriage-Empress Alexandra Fedorovna with her wife Field Marshal Ivan Fedorovich Paskevich, an active participant in a military campaign in Poland.
In the foreground depicts the audience of the parade – bright representatives of the era. Among them are the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 Denis Davydov, a prominent statesman Mikhail Speransky, writers Alexander Pushkin, Ivan Krylov, Vasily Zhukovsky, artists – Karl and Alexander Bryullov, Fedor Bruni, author of the picture Grigory Chernetsov and his brother Nikanor, president of the Imperial Academy of Arts , Director of the Public Library Alexei Olenin, actors, musicians, socialite, foreign ambassadors, diplomats, scientists and merchants. The only representative of the peasant estate was Peter Telỳshkin, a peasant of the Yaroslavl province, famous for the fact that in 1830 he repaired the cross at the Peter and Paul Cathedral without forests.
Almost all portraits were written from field sketches with a pencil or brush, performed in the artist’s workshop or in the house at the portrait, with some exceptions (for example, Count Chernyshev turned out to be difficult to get it", And his portrait was copied with „Parade" Kruger. Lists of characters that should be placed in the picture were sent to the artist by the relevant departments: the General Staff, the Ministry of the Imperial Court, the Directorate of the Imperial Theaters, IAX, the St. Petersburg City Head and the St. Petersburg Military General General and T. D. And approved by the emperor.
The list of depicted with the numbering, corresponding to the executed by the artist himself, was first published in „Art newspaper" N. In a puppeteer (art newspaper. 1836. With. 14-16) and included 214 images of spectators and 53 characters from the emperor’s retinue, who were not named in the extension. The picture ended in 1837, and some characters have not yet been written to the exhibition in IAX in 1836. In most cases, the appearance of the depicted recorded by the Chernitz does not correspond to their real age, confirmed by biographical data.
It is known that Nicholas I took Grigory Chernetsov to work on the “parade… “A workshop in the Shepelevsky house (on the site of which a new Hermitage was later built). According to Chernetsov, the emperor almost daily came to him (through the Hermitage) one or with the heir, looked at Alexander Fedorovna and the Grand Duchesses. By the way, simultaneously with Chernetsov Shepelevsky, two foreign artists worked – Wilhelm Adolf (Adolf Ignatievich) Ladürner (1799–1855) and Philipan Tanner (1795–1878).
